New housing legislation would help distressed homeowners
Senate passage is expected as early as Wednesday on housing legislation that would include a refinancing plan designed to assist homeowners at risk for foreclosure and what the Associated Press reports as "the most sweeping government overhaul of mortgage financing since the New Deal."
