Corpus Christi, Texas, was founded in 1839 by Colonel Henry Lawrence Kinney. It is the largest city on the Texas Coast. Corpus Christi is also the sixth largest port city in the U.S. It wasn't until the year 1852 that the city was incorporated and the first city council and mayor were elected.
